While I was pregnant I decided that I wanted to try my hand at homemade baby food. I hated the thought of giving Kate so many preservatives, GMO's, etc at such a young age. I wanted to be in more control of what she was eating.
Now I realize that there are organic, non GMO, natural baby food brands that you can buy. I just wanted to try homemade first.
So I want to share some of my favorite Baby Puree Recipes. These are all acceptable for Stage One baby food. If you have any questions or would like some more recipes let me know :)
Cooking Equipment I used for these recipes:
- 9x13 glass dish
- Power Pressure Cooker
- Food Processor
- Baby Food Storage
Butternut Squash
This was and is one of Kate's favorite vegetables. This was also the first baby food she had. Plus, it is super easy!
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2. Wash off and cut butternut squash in half (length) and scoop out all seeds
3. Add about .5-1 inch of water in baking dish
4. Lay butternut squash meat side down
5. Cook butternut squash about 40 minutes (the skin will start to pucker up)
6. Let it cool some (usually about 15-20 minutes)
7. Scoop out all of the meat into food processor
8. Process and add water or breast milk as needed to thin
Carrots
This is another easy recipe that Kate really liked.
1. Wash off carrots (about 1 cup petite carrots)
2. Add 2 cups of water to Power Pressure Cooker
3. Place carrots on steamer shelf in cooker
4. Pressure cook at 70
5. Cook for about 12-15 minutes
6. Process and add water or breast milk as needed
Sweet Potatoes
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2. Wash off sweet potato
3. Poke numerous holes in it with a fork
4. Wrap sweet potato in foil (I usually put mine on a cookie sheet in case any juice leaks out)
5. Bake for 45 minutes (or until soft)
6. Let it cool some (15-20 minutes)
7. Scoop out all of the meat into food processor
8. Process and add water or breast milk as needed to thin
